The privately-owned Featherbed Nature Reserve is a pristine piece of land situated on the Western Head of Knysna and is only accessible by ferry.
This 4-hour family-friendly outing departs daily including a ferry cruise, 4×4 vehicle drive a 2,2 km guided nature walk. The views are breath-taking, and the knowledgeable nature guides will share their insights of the area, fauna and flora. Once completed you will be treated to a spectacular outdoor buffet food experience included in the tour.
A must-do trip while in Knysna and suitable for young and old. Good walking shoes are recommended as well as cameras, hats, sunblock in summer and a warm jacket in winter on the ferry.
This excursion includes:
a return ferry cruise on the Knysna Lagoon to the Featherbed Nature Reserve,
a 4×4 vehicle drive up the headland on Reserve, stopping at spectacular viewpoints,
a specialist guide offering information on Knysna’s history, fauna & flora,
an optional guided 2.2 km nature walk through coastal forest and fynbos into ancient sea caves,
and finally a world renowned buffet lunch served in the Food Forest Restaurant under a canopy of Milkwood trees.

Featherbed Knysna was an experience of a lifetime. Enjoyed every moment of the day. Your staff all round was excellent. It was a never ending journey and the best end of the day was the lovely alacarte lunch. The preparation that went into it, words couldn't describe the time. The presentation of the Featherbed was done with superb knowledge. Everyone in South Africa or even the world should explore this territory. Skies were grey when we departed, but even when she's moody? Knysna Estuary shines. Our guide, Morris was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The short trail and sea cave was sensational. Breathtaking views. Lunch under a canopy of Milkwood trees was world-class. Every cent worth it. Love my country. - Hayley
